Logic3 ScreenBeat Soundsystem 2 Review by Hector Cortez
Have you ever sat down to play a few rounds of your favorite game and realize that your TV just isn't giving you the sound quality you need? You sit there, with the TV at high volume, yet you are not satisfied. You say to yourself, "There must be a way to get better sound!" Well, there is... and that is buying speakers made with videogame consoles in mind.
I received the Logic 3 ScreenBeat SoundSystem 2 not expecting much... boy was I surprised when I hooked these sleek, cheaply priced, speakers to my TV. Of course I didn't get amazing 5.1 surround sound, but at 69.99US ... what do you expect? The system consists of two small speakers about 7 inches (more or less) and a subwoofer. The power and volume is on the subwoofer along with the necessary connections on the back.
Ok, back to the sound test ... I'm sitting there, connecting everything, saying to myself, "these speakers can't possibly be that good!" I finished connecting everything and arranged the speakers to they were pointing in the direction of my couch while the subwoofer stood on the ground. The almighty X comes up on the screen as my Xbox boots up the almighty Halo. I turn on the speakers and wait for the monks to start singing.... Halo loads, the magic begins! Immediately I notice an amazing boost in sound quality and I say to myself, "where have you been all my life!"
I am initially impressed by the sound but me being me... I raise the volume of the speakers and the subwoofer to the absolute max. What came next wasn't pretty. As you would probably expect, the sound became a bit distorted due to the amount of volume. But, most of you won't use the absolute max on them... you'll regulate the volume to get the best sound, and that's what you should do with any speaker system... give it too much volume and the sound will always become distorted.
This speaker system can be used with the Microsoft Xbox, Sony PlayStation 1 and 2, Nintendo GameCube, or any other system that uses AV inputs (red, white, yellow). Along with videogame systems, the speakers can also be used on a PC or with a CD Player/Boom Box.
At 69.99US these speakers are well worth it. The sound is pretty good and the ability to use them with consoles, PCs, and CD players is a definite plus! It is like buying more than one speaker system. Bored of Halo? Up for some Half-Life on PC... then just simply hook up the speakers to your PC and continue enjoying the sound.
Overall, the Logic 3 ScreenBeat SoundSystem 2 is a great buy and should be checked out if you are looking for some basic speakers to enhance your gaming experience.
